Storage in a Small House

This post may contain affiliate links.  Thanks for your support.

My house is on the smaller size.  According to the county records, it is 1036 square feet.  So…if you do the math…it’s a pretty tight fit for the six of us.  I’m not complaining.  We have learned to live in a “small” space and do just fine.  However, storage and organization is key.  When just a few things are out of place, the entire house seems to be in disarray. One of my challenges is finding a place for everything {Read More}

Organizing Challenge Week 4 – The Laundry

This post may contain affiliate links.  Thanks for your support.

I was just in the laundry room (it’s not really a room…it’s a corner in my basement) and took a load out of the dryer.  I took them to my son (who was playing video games) to fold.  He said “Mom, I’m a Laundry-a-Phobiac”.  Oh my…aren’t we all!!?? This week I worked on organizing my laundry area and making it look a little nicer. It wouldn’t take much, I know!! I added a few little touches that make a big {Read More}

I got a bunch of new little cookbooks recently and have been trying out several of the recipes.  I don’t really love to cook and so when I can find an easy recipe that mimics a more difficult one…I’m on board.  This was one of those recipes. Every time we go to a fair or festival my Better Half is eager to get a gyro…holy cow, they’re like $7 for one!!  Anyway, here’s a yummy recipe that mimics that $7 {Read More}

Laundry Room Sign

I’m working on organizing the laundry room space this week and I came across this phrase on pinterest and knew I had to use it!!  I threw together this sign using a piece of recycled wood. Funny, huh? I cut out the stencils with my Cricut and then used some of my $.50 clearance paints for the paint work. I used a white paint pen to write on the little sign and attached it to the big one. TaDaaaa!! I {Read More}

Organizing Challenge Week 3 – Crafting Room

Like many other areas of my home.  My crafting area was in need of some serious organization after the holidays (probably before too!). My area was set up to be a scrapbook area but since I’m doing more scrapbooking digitally and more crafting manually, I wanted to make my area practical for today.  I moved all my scrapbooks to the hope chest and am storing them neatly there. That opened up quite a bit of space on my shelves for {Read More}

Wednesday’s What I Found – Not Just for Scrapbooking Anymore

I’m a scrapbooker…or so I was. I go through spurts and this is one of those times that I’m not really into it.  I have all the supplies (and then some) and have been looking and finding other uses for much of my “stuff”, particularly the scrapbook paper. I’ve used it for label making around the house: My Princess has gotten in the New Year organization going on here and wanted some labels for her baskets too. Flowers cut out {Read More}

Ribbon Storage Rack from Old Bed Slats

Remember my amazing deal on over 100 spools of ribbon? Well, I’ve been trying to find a space saving, frugal way to store all of it.  My first attempt was a major fail.  I had some old curtain rods lying around and thought I could put the ribbon on them and hang them up out of the way in my crafting area. Bad plan!!!  First of all…It looked terrible.( I know…the rest of the disaster didn’t make it look any {Read More}

Organizing Challenge Week 2 – The Kitchen Cabinets

Ok, so my organizing challenge lasted another week…YAY!!  On to week TWO!  I’ve been working all week on these few cabinets and the others on this wall. It really is difficult to add “something else” to do to an already super busy schedule but I’m sure once I get it organized it will make daily life somewhat easier and definitely more pleasant! I took everything out of the cabinets and wiped everything down.  That grime from using gas to cook {Read More}
