Well, I finished my Christmas decorating last week with this sign and it adds the perfect look to my rustic burlap Christmas decor.
I will preface this by saying that this is not the easiest way to make a “hand-painted” sign but, I learned my lesson and I’ll tell you how I did and how I think you should do it if you decide to make one .
I started with an old piece of recycled cedar siding. I dry brushed it white to give it a worn white-washed look.
This is where things got difficult. I printed out the words on my printer and had all intentions of using a pencil and tracing the letters…hard-like so it would leave marks so I could paint inside the lines.
That worked, but it was hard on my hands…pushing down so it would leave marks. When I got that done, instead of painting, I decided to just use permanent markers to “paint the sign”.
It was well worth every hand pain!! Next time I will get some carbon or transfer paper and use the same method without having to push down so hard!!
Don’t miss out on any of my upcoming posts…Follow along!
