Things at our house just seem to be getting more and more busy. Classes, different work schedules, skiing, library programs, bible studies, hanging with friends, service projects, doctor appointments, and baby sitting jobs keep us hopping most of the time. I have really struggled to keep everything organized and honestly get tired of the 20 questions that take place every day, like… Are we doing anything today? and What’s for dinner? and When are we leaving?
To remedy (or at least help) this, I created a family command center.
I started off with this mirror…
it was white when I bought it a while back and painted it red.
I used it as a mirror until I thought it would be better used as a chalkboard. A simple coat of chalkboard spray paint turned this into a super cute chalkboard.
I think it will be perfect for my menu board, but My Princess is using it for her artwork now. That’s good too!
This bulletin board was made using an old picture frame that I got at ReStore for $1. I painted it red and then distressed it a bit. I bought a roll of bulletin board contact paper for a $1 also, and put two layers in the frame…perfect.
My favorite part of the command center is the sign. I used some old lumber that I had behind my garage and My Better Half attached the two pieces of wood together with masonry ties. It adds to the rustic look and I love it!!
The only thing I’m missing now is a frame for the calendar. I’m keeping my eye open for something unique.
Well, the command center is doing its job. It hasn’t solved all our schedule and organizing issues, but it’s helping!
Keep Organizing,
