Rustic Fall Tablescape and Food Table

Being the mom of a chronically ill child is exhausting.  There’s really no other way to put it.  Sleepless nights, battling insurance and medical supply companies, and dreading doctor appointments because they don’t usually come with good news are just a few of the struggles I deal with on a day to day basis.  But, let me say this loud and clear for all to hear…My precious son is worth every bit of it and I will fight for good care for him as long and as hard as it takes!

Sometimes however, this road I’ve been called to walk can be lonely, daunting, and exhausting.  There are some days I just need an understanding ear and a little bit of pampering.  Last Spring, this understanding ear and pampering came to me by way of an outreach called Shepherd’s Well Retreat.  A dear mom started Shepherd’s Well after her daughter became the mom of a special needs child.  She watched her daughter care for her special needs child and saw the weight her daughter carried from it and wanted to offer a bit of pampering and care to other mom’s going through the same thing.  Pretty amazing, huh?!  So, several times a year this dear lady with a group of other ladies from her church, organize a day of pampering for mom’s with special need children or chronically ill children.  The  day offers many opportunities for the moms like; talking to a counselor, taking a restorative movement class, doing a craft, getting a manicure or massage, praying with someone, and it always includes a scrumptious lunch where we are served and cared for in a very special way.

Last month, our meeting was at camp where we got to interact with therapy horses.  It was a lovely day with a variety of activities.  One of the things I love about these get-togethers is that there is always such amazing attention to detail.  From caring personally to the needs of each mom to the beautiful and festive table decor which I couldn’t help but pull out my phone and take some pictures of.

At the end of the day, names are drawn and the centerpieces are given away to some of the moms.  It is just one more thing that makes the day special.

I have a dear friend that I go with and we get to chat on the way there and back too.  That adds to the day as well!  I look forward to the next event as soon as one is over!

Anyway, I wanted to share with you about this amazing outreach and give you a chance to see the lovely creativeness of their rustic fall centerpieces.  We have another event in November, I’ll be sure to take pictures!!

Enjoy!
