So, last week I told you about the great community garage sales I hit last weekend…over 35 in a very small area. The deals were crazy!!
When I came across this playhouse only two walls were up and the roof was laying on the ground but I knew I wanted a playhouse and when the seller told me it was only $10 I knew my Better Half and I could spruce it up and make it perfect for our princess.
We brought it home, put it together, and I immediately started painting. My Better Half got busy shingling the roof and it no time it started to look better!
We built the door out of scrap lumber and used an old door handle that was being thrown out. I gave it a fresh coat of paint and it looked like new. The shelf braces were a $1 ReStore purchase. I wasn’t sure where I would use them but I think the little Princess is going to love having a little shelf to play store, drive thru or any other creative things she’ll come up with.
We haven’t gotten to the inside yet. But I love the results of the outside! The total price for the playhouse ended up being right around $62.
Playhouse $10
Shingles $47
Red Paint $3
Shelf Braces $2
Countless Memories to Come = PRICELESS

Well now, my husband is going to kill me for coming across this post, because I’m going to BEG him to build our kids one of these! ๐ I live in the worst yard sale area of the country (at least I think so) so I can’t imagine ever coming across one of these, so I’ll have to start from scratch. I LOVE yours!!

LOVE your creative use of something that just needed a little sprucing up! So much better than buying new! I have been wanting a playhouse for my kiddos before they get too old for one. Hmmm…maybe I can talk DH into repurposing our old shed in the back yard!!!
Thanks for the inspiration!

WOW! That’s all I have to say. You are amazing.

I know I have a big request, but I would love to get the dimensions of this PLAYHOUSE. My husband is finishing-up a shed and has extra material….he promised his girls he would build them one and this one is absolutely adorable!! ๐
Carrie says
Hi Teena,
I was out working in the yard with my husband and so we took the measurements of the playhouse. I hope they make sense.
The base of the front and back panels is 74 inches
The height – floor to peak is 70 inches
The height of the front and back walls is 48 inches, so the side peak pieces will be 22 inch tall triangles
The roof is two sheets of 36 x 78 inch
The door way is 22 1/2 inches wide
I hope this helps…let me know if you have any more questions.
