We had dinner with some friends a few weeks ago and their daughter had on a pair of the cutest flip flops. Super colorful and fun. When I got down to look closer I realized they were little balloons tied to the flip flop straps. She had picked them up at a flea market where a mother/daughter team were working on them together. What a great craft idea!! I had to give them a try.
Then simply started tying them along the straps.
I bought a $1 pair of flip flops and a $2 bag of water balloons.
I was working on these in the car coming home from vacation….that’s why the pictures are taken with my pillow on my lap. |
Then simply started tying them along the straps.
I switched back and forth leaving the rounded side of the balloon on the outside every other time.
I put 20 balloons on each side of the strap…40 total for each flip flop. The number you use will probably depend on what size flip flop you use too.
This is how they turned out. I think they are darling.
So does my princess!! Doesn’t she have cute ankles!?
The total cost for the flip flops…$3 ( I also have enough balloons to make another pair) |
So cute!!! I have made similar flip flops but with colorful elastic ponytail holders. LOVE the balloon idea!!

Happy Monday!
With just a little practice, most people find it easy to make basic balloon models – personally I find it a lot easier to make a balloon giraffe (for example) than to draw a picture of one! There are lots of booklets available on balloon modelling, but I think the best way to start is simply to get some balloons and try it.Balloon Decorations
It all looks so cute!
