I think my Mom makes the best Macaroni and Cheese. It gets requested for showers, parties, and pot lucks. One of the reasons I love it…other than the deliciousness of it, is that it is a crock pot recipe. You can put it in the crock pot and leave it for hours. It will not heat up your kitchen during these sweltering days either. I made it for a birthday party a few weeks back so I took pictures so you could see how to make it.
First, I cook my pasta…I actually under cook it because it will finish cooking in the crock pot.
First, I cook my pasta…I actually under cook it because it will finish cooking in the crock pot.
Next, I mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
I add the pasta last and mix well.
Then I spray my crock pot with cooking spray…VERY IMPORTANT for easier clean up!!
I just pour everything in the crock pot and cook on low for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
This is what it looks like when it’s done. It is so good!!
Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese
4 cups cooked pasta (Al Dente)
(I use a little more pasta…like a 12 oz box)
2 cans evaporated milk
5 eggs
1 teas. Salt
1 package powdered cheese from box of mac & cheese
6 cups shredded cheddar cheese (I like to use a couple cups of the extra sharp to give it more of a zip)
1 stick butter (melted)
½ teas pepper
Mix all ingredients together and cook in crock pot on low for 2 ½ to 3 hours. Don’t forget to spray your crock pot with cooking spray or line it with a crock pot liner or this will be a mess to clean up!!
The recipe says it serves about 12. When I make this as an entree for my family of 6…it all gets eaten.
For the pictures above, I doubled this recipe. It filled my whole crock pot…I used a 32 oz. box of uncooked pasta and doubled everything else. I cooked it for 3 hours on high.

So yummy, and great for a Sunday after church, because you can stick it in the crockpot in the morning, and it’s ready when you get home.
looks yummy….Thanks for sharing….:))

I never thought of making mac & cheese in the crock! I’ll have to try that one day. It looks amazing!
This is wonderful…can’t wait to make it.
I just pinned it, too. :))
Oh my family would love this! Can’t wait to make it! Have you ever used crock pot liners? They are AMAZING!!! You line your pot before you cook, then cleanup is as easy as removing the liner and throwing it away. Perfect for “sticky” dishes like this!
Mac and Cheese with Evaporated milk – yum!! You should come and enter my cookbook giveaway (if you like cookbooks)? http://eatcakefordinner.blogspot.com/2011/07/30-minute-rolls-and-giveaway.html
Deliciousness! I’ve never made mac and cheese in a crock pot before. Do the noodles hold up? I was always afraid I might over cook them and they’d get mushy in a crock pot. Your mac and cheese looks wonderful 🙂
If you’d like, I wanted to invite you to share your best recipes over at my new party, Recipe Sharing Monday at Jam Hands. I’m going to be featuring my favorite submissions during the week and I’d love it if you’d join in the fun. :O)
This looks amazing! I can’t wait to try it.

If you didn't want to cook on high, could you then double the time for low? I want to start it in the morning and let it go while at work ;0)
While the recipe sounds good, as a cardiac patient I cringe at how much sodium is in the recipe. Just doing some quick figuring the entire recipe has over 14,000 mg of sodium. You say that your family of six eats all of the recipe for one meal. If you divide the recipe into 6 servings, each serving has over 2300 mg of sodium. That’s the maximum amount of sodium recommeded for an adult in an
The picture looks awesome but I find it an odd requirement to have an item from a BOXED mac n cheese in order to make HOMEMADE mac n cheese. If I had the box I would just make the box.
I Cooke mac and Cheese in the crock pot,
only i use
Noodles
1 17oz of Cottage cheese
2cups of shredded cheese
1stick of butter
2cups of hot water
cook it for about 5hours on slow 2hrs on high
it is very yummy! when done(:
i would love to know what a substitution could be for the powdered cheese if anyone has any idea. also, if there is something that could be subsituted, how much of it should i use
thanks
Thank you for the kind comments about the Mac and Cheese. It is indeed a family favorite…one of those "comfort foods" enjoyed on special occasions.
In response to the replacing the package of powdered cheese in the recipe. I believe it could be eliminated from the recipe without any harm. It does not effect the consistency…it just gives it a more cheesy flavor. If you
I am going to make this tonight, it looks delicious!

This looks super yummo!! making this tomorrow for a pumpkin carving party!! but i was wondering what size cans did you use for the evaporated milk? Regular/standard size cans or the little ones? – Thanks for sharing your recipe!!
It is super yummo, I am making it for Sunday dinner tomorrow. I use the 12 oz… what I would consider "regular" sized cans of evaporated milk.
Check the mac & cheese close to the end of the cooking process to make sure its not getting over-cooked. ENJOY!
Great!! Thanks so much!!!
How big is your crockpot? I'd like to know if I'd be able to double the recipe as well!
I have a 6 quart crock pot.
There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you made some good points in Features also. Its really very nice and fantastic post thanks for sharing this with us.

When doubling the recipe are you doubling EVERYTHING? so the recipe would be
8 cups cooked pasta
4 cans evaporated milk
10 eggs
2 teas salt
2 packages powdered cheese
12 cups cheddar cheese
2 sticks butter 1 teas pepper?
or is the recipe already doubled? Thank you
This looks great. I am hoping to make this for the 4th of july. But I’m curious if this recipe is already doubled? Doubling it to require 10 eggs and 12 cups of shredded cheese sounds like too much? Your response is greatly appreciated.
