Thank you for your patience this week as I’ve been updating my blog and over the past several months as this blogging project has evolved into what I think it should be.  Wow, the possibilities are really endless but I’m thrilled with the new look and content.  What do you think?
A BIG welcome to all my new followers and a heartfelt “thank you” to The Frugal Girls for the features and boost this week. Oh, I’ve also added a Saving 4 Six Facebook page and would love it if you “liked me”.  Just click the facebook “like” box on the right.
Ok, down to business…

Several months ago at ReStore, we found this buffet and turned it into our island.

, Saving 4 Six

Since then we have been looking for a couple of stools for the overhang on the back of the island.
Of course I haven’t been willing to pay full price so I’ve been checking ReStore almost weekly for a deal.
Well, my day came.  This was my loot a few weeks back…notice what it is all sitting on??

, Saving 4 Six
Yes…two stools.  Each for just $5.40.

They needed a little elbow grease, so I got to work sanding away the paint and grime.

, Saving 4 Six
I stained the top of them with the same stain from the new staircase and refinishing the table.  Then I painted the bottom black.

, Saving 4 Six

The stain isn’t as even as I would like it to be because I forgot to condition the wood after sanding it down and before applying the stain.  This memory sure isn’t what it used to be!!
But they still match my table nicely and the kids love to eat their breakfast and snacks at the island.

This is a fabulous use for this piece and it looks absolutely super. I love that you kept the wood it looks to be in great condition, and it's a really vintage piece.

What did you use to make the island top? I love it! I’m going to be using a vintage dresser for the same purpose, and I really like what you did.
