Do you feel like your “To Do” list is always getting longer??  Mine sure is!  I’m convinced I’m making great progress and then something happens…something like this…
A LEAK…a simple leak, right?!
NOT!!
In NE Ohio we have had record breaking rain fall this year.  It has seemed somewhat incessant.  Several attempts were made to stop this leak but to no avail and so the rain moved in to our mudroom.  It was leakin’ bucketloads!! FUN, FUN, FUN!!

, Saving 4 Six

Finally, a nice weekend (by that I mean rain-free) arrived and my men headed to the roof to take care of the problem for good (we hope 🙂 )  My Better Half decided to make it a teaching day so my three sons went with him to learn how to fix a leak and roof.  Someone from our church drove by and said it looked typical…One man working and three supervising 🙂  Anyway the problem was solved and we have now moved on to fix the damage in the mud room.

, Saving 4 Six

The damage was pretty extensive and since there was little insulation in that room and the wiring had not been done properly, we felt we needed to do it the “right way” and tear things back to the studs.  (ALWAYS FUN, wink wink)

We have now mega-insulated that room and hung the new drywall.  We are in the middle of the taping process now.

I really don’t like big jobs like this.  I feel like our whole house is in disarray when one room is torn apart.

Hmmmm, maybe that’s because my house IS in major disarray!!

Anyway, I am making progress and wanted to show you some of the awesome components that are going into this room.

Slate flooring anyone??  LOVE IT….can’t wait!!

Beadboard…always good!

This darling chandelier…picked up at ReStore for a great price.

New wiring…that works :))

Oh, wait a minute that last part was just a dream…I certainly would love a gorgeous door like this though.  One of these days 🙂
I’ll keep you posted on the progress.  We are having company in two weeks and I am determined to have this job completed by then!

Blessings,

I love that door too. I have a picture of it hung on my fridge. (someday) Check out our roof renovation. We had a leak too and then I blogged. Its dormers for the old girl. It is a 10 part series. I am your newest follower. I have to see what you do with your mudroom. Cheers!

I LOVE that door! Good luck with the rest! I hate living in the midst of renovations but the end result is so worth it 🙂

You tease! My heart stopped at that door. 😉 But wow on your gorgeous floors and beadboard walls. We had to do the same thing to our laundry room. One room torn up does kind of trash the rest of the house. I can’t wait to see your results.

    Blessings,
    Gillian

Seemingly minor repairs, like a roof leak, always tend to lead to something much bigger … like pulling a hangnail — you just don’t know exactly where you should stop. It’s great that you took advantage of the situation to do things the ‘right’ way! Lots of folks wouldn’t bother.

What I see so far looks fabulous. Paint color? I love the one on the greyish-green color on the uppermost right corner of your photo.

Sorry about the mess. I feel your pain.

Oh how exciting that it’s coming together! Picking the pain color is always a pain! Now if I oculd only pick one for my mud room as well!

I got all excited when I spotted “your” door–we actually do have one like that going into our mudroom. We got it at an auction for cheap…so don’t give up hope just yet:) Love all your choices–slate floor, beadboard and those paint chips look great. Let me throw another color at ya–BM Revere Pewter. Just painted our bedroom that this weekend and I’m in love. We got Home Depot to match it. Looks good, girl! Keep up the hard work:) Visiting from My Uncommon Slice.

I was watching that show on HGTV with John Gidding where they go in and do a major remodel on one house and small redo’s on the neighbors. They did a door like that out of an inexpensive existing door with just some moldings. Of course, they had to paint it, but it looked darned good for CHEAP! Might look on HGTV to see if you can find that episode.
