Organizing Challenge Week 2 – The Kitchen Cabinets

Ok, so my organizing challenge lasted another week…YAY!!  On to week TWO!  I’ve been working all week on these few cabinets and the others on this wall.

It really is difficult to add “something else” to do to an already super busy schedule but I’m sure once I get it organized it will make daily life somewhat easier and definitely more pleasant!

I took everything out of the cabinets and wiped everything down.  That grime from using gas to cook comes off nicely with window cleaner.  I pitched the tea collection that I NEVER drink and the almost empty bottles and boxes and then put what was left back in the cabinet.

So much better, huh?  I used some dollar store boxes and made tags with my cricut. (These are the same boxes I spray painted for my entryway)  I think they add to the appearance as well as the organization.

I organized several other cabinets as well.  Getting rid of so much that I never use.

My spices got a good wiping down and then I wrote what they were on each of the caps for easier locating.

Now that I’ve gotten my canisters all spruced up and back into use, I’m storing beans, rice, and oats in the jars that used to hold my flours and sugar.

I decided to paint the inside of the cabinet doors with chalk board paint to make a grocery list and write my menu for the week.

I can’t tell you how many times I hear…”What’s for dinner, mom?”  Maybe this will help!

Makin’ progress people…makin’ progress!!
On to week three…
Are you getting organized too?  Would love to hear about your progress!

Blessings,

Awesome! I love the way you used the dollar store containers. I keep seeing the Cricut being used and I really like it! I will be making a menu board soon. I was going to chalkboard paint but found a tutorial for one using a regular frame with the glass on pinterest! Can’t wait!

Great job! I enjoyed seeing your cabinets with the blackboard painting inside. I am planning to do that with one of mine, so it was nice to see in a photo how it came out! Again, very nice job with the whole kitchen.
    Best,

We are planning to reorganize our kitchen Real Soon Now but having trouble finding motivation, so thanks for the ideas! I especially like the idea of chalkboard paint on the INSIDES of the doors where the chalk won’t get smudged by people passing by and using the doors.
