Because we have a small home, I really look forward to Summer and the opportunity to entertain outside. Many years ago My Better Half built a large deck on the back of our house and we use it A LOT during the Summer months. I like to spruce it up and make it homey like the inside of our home.
With plenty seating, we have room to entertain a crowd.
With things that I had lying around the garage and yard, I was able to make a fun and comfortable atmosphere.
My ReStore Ladder, toolbox planter, and painted ReStore saws fit well together as a deck feature.
I was given this chaise lounger but it was horribly uncomfortable!! So, I used a piece of insulation that I had left over from my two-sided canvas print to make it much more enjoyable!!
My amazing Better Half made both the planter bench and my picnic table.
Last Summer, I showed you this $5 Yard Sale rocking chair. I had to recover it this Summer. I covered it with a $2 vinyl table cloth.
A family favorite deck feature is the way some of us get off the deck.
We got this slide when my kids were little and the deck was the perfect place for it. Now that they are older, it doesn’t get as much use. Friends’ children love to play on it when they come over now.
I like to plant flowers in all sorts of different containers…it gives such a fun, unique look.
The steamer pot on my table was pulled out of a dumpster…that was my first (and only, so far) dumpster diving attempt. I’m pretty pleased with the results!!
Here are my Strawberry Planter Boxes, I showed you these a few weeks back. I made ’em all by myself!!
So that’s where we hang out during the Summer.
I love all the little touches on your deck! Feels very warm and homey!
I love it! Honestly, I'd rather have a deck than a living room! But I live in AZ, where you can use it (almost) year round. The slide idea is unique and FANTASTIC!!! Ooooh, wouldn't that be great if it ended in a swimming pool? Sorry, my daydreams are taking over. You are awesome!
Love the picnic table and umbrella! It's very tastefully done. And i'm glad I stumbled on your blog from the tutorial tuesday hop!

What a fab outdoor space Carrie! Love all the different planters and how fun the space is. I’m 43 and I’d still be going down that slide LOL
Just love your deck – what a perfect spot for entertaining –
Visiting from I should be mopping the floor
Hugs,
Love it! So jealous of your weather. we do have a deck, but it often gets drizzled on, even in summer. The joys of living here in England I guess!

Nice pictures! I really liked the whole interior and roofing style. Today wood roofs are in trend and most of the homeowners prefer wood roofs for their house as it looks stylish and add charm to your whole house.
