Our community has a Farmer’s Market every Friday night during the Spring and Summer months. We headed out there several weeks back and found some great Strawberry plants. I was so excited! They were loaded with Strawberries. Heading back to the car, we were munching on these yummy treats. These will be so fun and delicious to enjoy in the years to come!
Next issue though…where to put them. My raised beds are full so I thought it would be nice to make some flower boxes for my deck and put them there for easy access.
I’m getting kinda handy with My Better Half’s power tools so I cut out these boxes all by myself.
I put them together on my own too. Not without injury, however. Let me just say…don’t touch a drill bit as soon as it comes out of the wood…BIG mistake!!!
Then I found some old cedar in my lumber pile to make a bottom for the boxes. and used old recycled lumber and screws we had on hand for the rest, so the boxes didn’t cost a cent.
My Princess painted them after I taped them off.
She used the same Milk Paint that I used on my bed frame bench and my $5 rustic chair planter. These are all on my deck and look beautifully together.
The stripes add a nice whimsical look to the deck. I’m working on two more of these to throw some lettuce seeds in and maybe some green onions. YUM…don’t you love summer!?

I love these. The bright colors are great. Luckily I have a whole year to make these because my little strawberry plants are already dead. 🙁 At least next year when I try again they will be in a cute planter.

Your boxes turned out great! Buy it now and figure out where to put it later, yep! I live by that motto too!

So cute! I have a ton of leftover wood from a fencing project. This just might be the project to use that up.

I’ve got to try this! I’m not the most affluent with power tools, but I’ve wanted to make something like this for a while now! I think there is no better cure for being cooped up all day in the office at Dish then coming home to some beautiful, green plants. I live in a condo, so this would be perfect to fit on my balcony. I have only recently gotten the urge to garden after watching countless HGTV shows featuring outdoor havens. I have a terrible habit of recording everything on that channel to my Hopper DVR because it inspires me to copy everything they do. Who knew having such a large amount of recording space could be a bad thing? LOL! I kept thinking that just because I have a condo, doesn’t mean that I should have to miss out on the outdoors! I hope this works out well for me! I’ll let you know how my venture with power tools turns out.
