Snow Icecream

We are getting an abundance of snow this year.  It is certainly not my favorite thing but it makes me very thankful for a toasty home!

, Saving 4 Six

When I was little, I loved playing in the snow, making snowmen, and one of my favorite things…eating snow. I know, some of you may think it’s gross but I have lived to tell about it!  My kids have taken after me and love to play in the snow and eat it too.  I decided to add a little flavor to the snow and tried whipping up some snow ice cream.

Who better than Paula Deen to get the recipe from?
This is a simple three ingredient recipe:

, Saving 4 Six

1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
10 cups fresh snow (8 cups if it’s packed down)
Stir all the ingredients thoroughly

, Saving 4 Six
And serve immediately.
, Saving 4 Six
It is delicious and fun!
And just in case you were wondering, I am aware of the risks involved in eating snow.  So if you’re not willing to take that risk, I understand.  But if want to try this yummy recipe regardless of the risks…
Enjoy,
, Saving 4 Six

We love making this when we have a nice fresh fallen snow!
I am always lurking around your blog but hardly ever comment (I am awful at that)

That’s so great! My son’s preschool just did this yesterday and I’d never heard of it. Thanks for sharing – now I know what’s in it, we’ll be sure to try it out at home (as he keeps raving about how awesome it was)!

Remember the ‘Little House’ books. The kids took pie pans and filled them with snow then drizzled boiled maple syrup on the snow to make candy. I will give your Snow Ice Cream a try. We are going to get another 3″ to 4″ tonight in the Shenandoah Valley.

In NC, we rarely get enough snow to make snow cream. I wonder if you could somehow recreate “snow” with ice cubes and a food processor/powerful blender…

I never thought that snow can be used to make ice cream. Is it safe?

What a cute idea! We will have to wait for some freshly-fallen snow to try this…the snow is not looking so hot here in New England. 🙂 I just discovered your blog through the Sugar and Dots link up and look forward to reading more!

I tried this last night and it was yummy!! My kids loved seeing the snow turn into ice cream. We’ve been having lots of snow the last few days so we’ll probably be making this a lot. 😉 Thanks for sharing! I’ll post a pic of our ice cream on my blog with a link back to you. 🙂
