Do you remember my burlap covered boxes?

, Saving 4 Six

I am thrilled with the way they worked in my bathroom linen closet

, Saving 4 Six

and now I’m working on organizing my pantry/stockpile and I figured I would use these same, inexpensive boxes here too.
I’m not ready to show you the pantry yet but I’ve been working on covering the boxes with burlap.

, Saving 4 Six

I just cut strips and glued them to the cardboard boxes with the glue gun.

, Saving 4 Six

Then as pull handles, I used plumbing pipe straps. (I got the idea from Sew Many Ways)

, Saving 4 Six

These were only $1.87 for a bag of 10.

, Saving 4 Six

Aren’t they cute?  I am going to tie a tag of some sort on these to label the boxes in my pantry.
I hope by using these in my pantry, they will keep this space as organized as my bathroom closet.

, Saving 4 Six

I’ll be showing you my pantry update here in the next couple weeks.  But for now, if you’re looking for an inexpensive but cute way to store things, try a burlap covered box with a pipe strap handle (the “handles” are purely for appearance and cannot be pulled on).

Love your boxes! All you ideas, really. But here’s a question for you….or maybe it’s just an idea…If you actually attached those ‘handles’ with a nut and bolt…and maybe even a little heavy duty glue ( like E600), don’t you think you could actually use them? I might have to try it. Probably would depend on how heavy the stuff in the box is. Anyway….thanks for all your wonderful posts! Dona

Hubs just found a box of burlap from our re-finishing, re-upholstering days. Hmmmm. I will post those when/if we come across them and scanning, etc. is successful. Maybe in the meantime I’ll use up some of that burlap.

Love your burlap boxes! . .I fashioned ‘pullable’ handles by piercing 2 holes with an icepick (about 3″ apart) and running some cotton clothesline I had laying around . .but any leftover thick, rigid sturdy material will do.

Tie a large knot(s) on back of each side so that it’s secure.

I needed handles to reach a box of office supplies that are stashed on the 4th shelf over my kitchen desk . .saves time from dragging the stepstool out!!

For a box that’s 6″ high . .I positioned the holes 2″ from the bottom. I used a leftover USPS box that is 10.5″ long and fits the depth of my cabinets perfectly. Mine is not covered by burlap YET . .but your pics have truly motivated me!! Cindy

I actually just made a burlap bin for my daughter’s room out of a diaper box this passed week! I’ll have to make some more for my linen closet (goodness knows I have tons of diaper boxes lol)
