So, I’ve been dating this man for over 20 years. Yes, I’ve been married to him for over 20 years as well and we try to keep our relationship fresh and moving in the right direction by continuing to date each other.
Now, I’ve told you before that My Better Half, is indeed the better half. He is extremely thoughtful and romantic. He came up with this idea for a Menu of Date Night Ideas and surprised me with it on one of our recent dates.
He took an old business card folder and filled it with cards that have a title on the front, like “Picker’s Paradise”. On the back of the card it tells me that that means “hitting a really cool consignment store, thrift store, flea market, or re-sale shop”. Wow…does he know me well?! It’s like a dream date!
He lets me choose what I want for our date or if I’d rather him choose, he already has a menu of ideas to choose from. He keeps adding to it and also when we do one of the ideas that is in the menu, he writes the date on the back of the card.
Here’s a few more of his “Menu Choices”
-Biknic – A bike ride with a relaxing picnic lunch/dinner
-You Make Me “Melt” – A nice lunch or dinner at “Melt” (Michael Simon’s restaurant)
-This Side of Eden – Explore a local garden together
-Get Your Game On – Enjoy a little friendly competition by playing a game together
-Afternoon Fore 2 – Play 9 holes together and not worry about the score (we did this last week…FUN!)
-Bar The Door – Take a night off and enjoy a bed picnic, movie, or… Door locked and kids occupied!
-Tree For 2 – Hijack the kid’s tree house and enjoy a romantic picnic in the tree house.
Some of our date nights have been big hits…other’s not so much. But spending time together is so valuable. Dates don’t have to be expensive or extravagant. Even just a few minutes of privacy can be priceless!
