To Paint or Not To Paint?

I know we have had the painting debate in the past (when I painted my hope chest) but I have to bring it up again because this time I’m really not sure if I should paint this piece or not.

, Saving 4 Six
I was given this piece and I’m really not sure what it is…maybe for lingerie??  But I don’t have that much lingerie and I needed something in my bedroom to hold my hair supplies, makeup, other odds and ends and things like that.
, Saving 4 Six
This fits perfectly in the small space that I have available and has a bunch of drawers to hold all my stuff.
But the question of the day is…”Should I paint it or not?”  The dark wood matches my bedroom perfectly.  If you want to see more of my bedroom, check out this post, this one, or this one. So I think keeping the dark wood would be nice but it is such an interesting piece and I think all the drawers would be FUN to paint!!

So what do you think??  To Paint or Not to Paint??

since it matches the rest of your bedroom furniture, I would not paint it. It is a really interesting piece, I like it and don’t think I have ever seen one like it.

That is just my opinion though, I am sure you will figure out the best way to suit you.

Don’t paint it! It not only matches the rest of your furniture (I peaked at your links), but if you look at the wall mural that you stenciled…it also matches the reddish color of the flowers. This piece was destined to be in this room exactly like it is…except maybe change out the knobs for brushed nickel to match the mural on the wall…at least in the pic I think I spy a silvery tone.

Angelique beat me to it! I was also going to say don’t paint it, but maybe go with some fun drawer pulls or knobs if you want a little more personality to the piece. There are tons of options now for drawer bling, and even more if you get creative and DIY something. Matching furniture can be so hard to come by, especially at the awesome price you scored (FREE)! Good luck! I can’t wait to see what you decide to do!

I say paint it! I love the idea of painting the drawers different colors! There are so many things you could do with it! Ombre would even be cute on it. I have to admit though, I tend to like a more eclectic look that still goes together, but is not necessarily matchy matchy, so maybe that’s just my opinion. 🙂

Don’t paint it. It matches and looks great. But I am a plain person – I would not paint it.

That cabinet already has it going on with the whole tall, dark and handsome thing. I say leave it!

I skipped on over from Sew Many Ways any I too think it’s a No on the painting… it’s pretty the way it is… but in the end; you have to be happy with it! Live with it for a while. You can always paint it if you are not happy with! I’m thinking it might have been for jewelry and the like. Just a thought; what with the two little doors on top. Interesting that’s for sure. You have nice friends!

I would absolutely not paint it. The finish is so nice as is. Seeing the wood is okay! Now adays, with everyone always painting things…being different would be to not paint it 🙂 The color of the wood goes well with the mural on the wall that i see right beside it. So that is my vote. 🙂
