Ok, so a couple months ago I found two of these somewhat hideous night stands at a second hand store. They were listed at $5 each. and then were even on sale for 20% off that…making them $4 each.
This was one of those deals that I kept trying to decide whether they could be nice with the right paint and hardware. My Better Half gave me that look… you know, the one where he’s not quite sure if I’ve lost it yet, or not.
Anywhoo, I brought these two babies home and have been staring at them, trying to figure out what paint and hardware would actually make these usable.
Well, I decided on some hardware from D. Lawless Hardware. I think it’s the best and the most affordable. And I made up some of my own Homemade Chalk Paint. I used antique white paint as my base and then mixed in the other ingredients to give it the chalk paint effect.
I had to give the nightstands a good cleaning…they were pretty gross, and then I started applying the chalk paint.
It took 4 coats to get the desired coverage.
Then I moved on to distressing it a bit with some sandpaper.
The hardware gave the pieces the perfect finishing touch.
I could not be more pleased with the results.
I would certainly say that my $8 paid off.
Now, these are making perfect end tables next to my couch.
I love a GREAT transformation!
