A couple years ago, a friend of mine got me a complete skin care kit for Christmas. When it was time to refill my cleanser and toner, I looked up the skin care kit and found the two items that I needed at the time to be about $30 and a new complete kit to be $162…YIKES! That is too rich for my blood!
Anyway, after a short time of not using the products, I noticed my face getting oily. YUCK… I don’t like a shiny, oily face. I can often find solutions to my problems on Pinterest and so I headed there to find a DIY solution to my oily skin. There I found a great recipe for facial toner.
Here’s what you need:
- ½ cup Water
- ¼ cup Lemon juice
- ⅓ cup Witch Hazel
- 1½ Tablespoons Alcohol (the original recipe called for 2 Tablespoons of alcohol, I didn't want my skin drying out so I lowered the quantity to 1½ to be cautious)
- Combine and mix all ingredients and store in airtight bottles.
- If you prefer a different scent, you can always add essential oils. (I'm a little funky about scents, so the natural one works best for me.)
- Apply to face using cotton ball or pad.
I’ve been using this now for several months and I love it! I know some may not like it because of the alcohol, but it has really kept my skin from being so oily without drying it out.
I apply the toner in the morning after my shower, and when I remember, at night before bed. This gives my skin such a clean fresh feeling. I just recently started keeping it in the refrigerator so it is cool and refreshing on my face during the hot days.
