I’ve had a lot of fun this year making ornaments to sell and now the leftovers are going on my tree. It’s a win, win. Last week I showed you the savory smelling cinnamon ornaments that I made. They are really easy and smell wonderful! You can see how I made those HERE.
Well, these Grain Sack Ornaments are just as easy, and I was able to use things I already had on hand to make them. Now, as you can probably guess, they are not really made from a grain sack, but instead a canvas tarp that I bought at Harbor Freight for like $7. A big tarp will go a LONG way when it comes to making ornaments.
I’ve been using this same canvas tarp for a couple years now. Maybe your remember the stockings I made with it a couple years back?
Well, you can see that post HERE, but anyway, like a said…a cheap canvas tarp will go a long way.
So to make these cute ornaments, I cut out my star using a cookie cutter as a pattern. I gave my ornaments the “grain sack” look by just drawing the lines on with a permanent marker. I stuffed the star with scrap material and simply sewed around the edges with my sewing machine. You could easily sew it by hand too. When I came to the top of the star, I attached a jute string to hang it to the tree.
And that’s it… a cute ornament or gift topper that is easy to make and really inexpensive!
