Last year, I introduced you to my New Year Memory Jar.  It’s the jar we fill with memories.  As things happen throughout the year, we write it on a little slip of paper and drop it in the memory jar.  We will read all these 2014 memories on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day and reflect on the things that have happened in the lives of our family over the past year.

Why do we do this?  Well, for various reasons.  First of all, we have so much to be thankful for, and I think this is a wonderful way to remember some of those things.  Secondly, we’ve walked some tough roads this year, and the Lord has been faithful to see us through those roads.  Finally, and along those same lines, I want to create a memorial for my kids (even if it’s just through little slips of paper) to remember, “that the hand of the Lord is mighty…”. If you take the time to read Joshua chapter 4 from the Bible, I think you will see the importance of starting a memory jar or some other memorial for your family.

So, here are a few memories we’ve added to our jar this year:

, Saving 4 SixMy Better Half and I were featured in This Old House Magazine for our Closet Office Makeover.

, Saving 4 SixWe also took up running and completed our first 5K this Summer.

, Saving 4 SixMy oldest began his Senior year of high school.

, Saving 4 SixMy second born got his braces off and started driving.

, Saving 4 SixMy youngest son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and our lives changed forever.

, Saving 4 SixMy Princess continued to have seizures but with an increase in her meds, they have decreased greatly.

, Saving 4 SixOur family vacation to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina added many memories to our jar.

In our home, we have made many updates.  Here are a couple of my favorites:

The bright new color on the walls in the dining room adds such a cozy look to the house.

Our bathroom makeover was another of my favorite projects this year.

Ok, so these are just a few of the many memories that filled our memory jar in 2014.  I encourage you to start one of your own this year!

Oh, and BTW, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

You have a lovely family! We all had so much to be thankful for in the past year. For one, I didn’t lose a loved one this past year and we still have our home and our daughter is doing great with her job. Praying this new year will be safe, happy and healthy for you and your family. I enjoy you blog very much. God bless you all.
