So, yesterday was a stellar shopping day! I’ve been couponing again recently and am beginning to see some real savings and my stockpile is growing. However, the saving-goodness grew yesterday by leaps and bounds when I headed to Aldi and was looking to buy some meat. I saw one of their not-so-fancy pieces of paper with the exciting handwritten words, “Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast $4 off per package”. Now, I really had no need for chicken breast for my meal plan, but I know when I see these hand written signs, there is a deal to be had! I found a similar deal last month and still have a bunch of chicken in my freezer but at this price, I couldn’t pass up adding a few more packages to the freezer. So, this is the CRAZY deal… the chicken breast was $1.49 per pound to begin with (awesome deal in and of itself) and then because the sell by date was 5 days away, they marked the packages down $4. This worked out to be 57 pounds of chicken…YES, 57 pounds of chicken for $43!!! That breaks down to 75 cents per pound for boneless skinless chicken breast!! I know I’m using a lot of exclamation points in this post…but this is GOOD stuff!!
Do you know how many things you can make with chicken breast?… and the ease of boneless just adds to the goodness. Anyway, I thought I’d compile a list of some of the recipes I’m going to make with all this chicken. Most of these are crock pot recipes, so that makes them even easier! (Just click on the red title of each meal to head to the recipe.)
Pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwich
Two Ingredient Crock Pot Chicken
Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings
Simple Two Ingredient Crock Pot Chicken
Slow Cooker Chicken Tacos
Creamy White Chicken Chili
Cheesy Chicken Spaghetti
Chicken Fried Rice
So, now you have a snapshot of the recipes we’ll be eating in the days ahead. And for you, the next time you’re at Aldi, be sure to see if they are offering any deals on their meat!!
Enjoy!
