It’s a super cold snowy day…so snowy that my kids have a snow day. We got eleven inches last night on top of the ten we got the night before. So ice cream is not necessarily the top thing on my mind, unless it’s snow ice cream of course. But since it’s so cold and snowy, I’ve been staying warm inside and was browsing through some pictures from Christmas when I came across these ice cream kits I sent out to family.
I told you the whole “scoop” (pun intended) about us trying to save money this year and being more creative with our Christmas gifts. This gift idea fell into the “under $20 family gift” category along with our pallet wood leash hangers for the puppies, and fort kit we made for the kiddos. Now sometimes teenagers can be difficult to buy for, but as I well know (having three of mine own), teenagers LOVE gifts of food. So, since we buy for a couple families with teenagers, I thought these homemade Ice Cream Sundae Kits would be a hit.
I loaded up a box with:
sugar cones
sugar cone bowls
2 ice cream sauce toppings
gummy bears
sprinkles
chocolate chips
m&m’s
peanuts
crushed heath bar
To make these toppings look cute, I put them in plastic baggies and tied them with baker’s twine. I secured everything in the box with shredded red paper that I picked up from the dollar store.
And finished them off with a note that read, “Because it’s never too cold for ice cream…. Ice Cream Sundae In A Box (just add the ice cream) Merry Christmas!” Here’s a link to my printable note: Ice Cream Sundae In A Box
Anyway, if you’re looking for a creative, fun gift idea for around $20…This is a good one! Besides who doesn’t like ice cream!?
Enjoy,
