Quick Fix for Water Stains on Wood

Wednesday is my super busy day of the week.  I get the three oldest off to school and then My Princess and I head to Jazzercise.  I come home, shower and then meet with a friend to pray for our kiddos.  Grocery shopping, piano lessons, cooking dinner, and then small group makes the day pretty crazy.  All of these things limit my time to clean or even maintain my house.  So last Wednesday, as I was quickly straightening the books on the coffee table, I noticed that my table was not looking so good.  There were water stains on several places …ugh.

The wood was looking faded and the water stains super obvious.  Now, I just finished telling you that my day was very busy and so I didn’t have time to do much, but I searched the web for a quick fix for water stains on wood.

, Saving 4 Six

This is what I found and gave it a try.  Are you ready?  This is SO easy!!  Mix equal parts of petroleum jelly and olive oil.

, Saving 4 Six

I used an old lid to mix about a teaspoon of each.  I didn’t need a lot for this table.

Next, I rubbed it on the water stains.

Because it looked so good, I applied this mixture to the rest of the table.

What a difference this simple fix made!!  Now, for full disclosure…it did not REMOVE the water stains.  It did COVER them up.

When you are looking from a different angle they are slightly visible.  BUT, it looks MUCH BETTER and was SO QUICK and EASY!!  I thought it would leave a greasy residue on my table, but it didn’t.  I think if you used too much oil and petroleum jelly that you may have that problem, so use this mixture sparingly.

I am not a wood expert and am just sharing the results of my trial.  So if you try this fix, be sure to try it out on an inconspicuous area of your table first.

But, I can guarantee that my table will be getting another rub down when it needs it!

Enjoy!
