I came across Rainbow Cookies at the Betty Crocker website and was eager to try them with my kids. They were a lot of work but with the cuteness factor…I think it was totally worth the effort!!
Here’s how you make them. Make up your favorite sugar cookie recipe. You can find the one I used here.
Then divide your dough evenly into as many different colors you want.
I tripled my cookie dough recipe to make six different colors.
Color your dough using paste, gel, or liquid food coloring.
Shape your dough into a rope. Betty Crocker says to make your rope about 1 inch in diameter and 5 inches long. I tried this to begin with and once my dough was rolled out it was too wide for my little cookie cutters. If you are using a bigger cookie cutter, a 1 inch rope would be fine.
Now, roll the dough to your desired cookie thickness.
And cut out your cookies.
Bake and cool according to your cookie recipe directions.
Aren’t they super cute!?
With the left over dough, I just rolled it all together and it made a sort of tie-die cookie. I liked these just as much!
