Graduation Party Ideas

Last June, we celebrated my first born son’s high school graduation with a party for him.  The day was supposed to be dreary and rainy, but turned out to be one of the most gorgeous days of the summer.  The sun shone beautifully and over 150 people came out to demonstrate their love for our family.  It was a perfect, memorable day.

We are so blessed to live in the area we do (despite the ridiculous winters we have).  We have beautiful parks that rent their facilities for free!  This particular park is only a few miles from my house and so it made set up and transport of supplies very easy.  We also have a wonderful family and friends that helped prepare food, set-up, tear-down, and help with the busy-work during the party.

We used the natural beauty of the facility to help decorate and just added some personal touches and photos to brighten it up a bit.

Using dollar store supplies, we created these easy and cute centerpieces.

One of my son’s favorite TV shows is Dr. Who and so My Better Half (who is crazy talented), built this awesome box for his cards.

I had a crate set out for gifts and there was plenty room around the fireplace for the ones that didn’t fit in the crate.

Many friends offered to make cookies for the party, so our dessert table had cookies, “puppy chow”, cupcakes, and some candies.

Our candies included: dum dums, nerds, and smarties.  I made up a little sign asking people which they were…a smartie, dum dum, or nerd.  Just FYI, there were far more nerds eaten than either of the others. 😉

I set up a memory table with my son’s awards, some pictures, stuffed owls for guests to sign, and few other special items.

We got him a MacArthur Study Bible for graduation and asked the guests to highlight their favorite verse in his Bible.

We had a variety of lawn games going on but the favorite was Kan Jam, Saving 4 Six.  We had a Bubble Maker, Saving 4 Six
for the little ones and lawn Jenga, Saving 4 Six for everyone to enjoy.

It was such a wonderful day.  I’m so thankful for all the people God has brought into our lives that could enjoy this day with us.  The fun thing is, that we get to do it again this year for son #2!!

Happy Graduation!
