The past two weeks have been CRAZY! My second-born finished school and we hosted his graduation party just a few days ago.
If you’ve gotten to the place in parenthood where you are graduating kiddos, you know that it’s a whole new level of craziness. This isn’t just because a graduation ceremony itself is a big deal, but it’s the ceremony, the other friends’ ceremonies, the countless parties, the Senior hooplas at the end of the year, the BIG graduation party/open house, and the HARDEST part is the emotional hot mess that a mom becomes when she graduates one of her babies. YEPPER, it’s been a CRAZY couple of weeks. BUT, I’m happy to say that we are past them now and I’m on to cleaning up the mess, mopping up the tears, and celebrating the summer!
I haven’t had time to go through all the pictures from last weekend’s graduation party, but I’ll be sure to post them and some great NEW graduation party ideas when I do. BUT, if you want to see the graduation party we hosted last year for my first-born, you can see that post HERE.
For this year’s party, I was running short on time and trying to come up with something unique and rustic for card and gift boxes. I headed out to my garage/workshop/storage unit/catch-all to browse around.
I came across this toolbox that I had turned into a planter several years ago. You can see that post HERE. I was no longer using it for a planter and since my precious son is into working on cars, I thought a tool box would make a PERFECT card box for his graduation party.
I used some striped burlap that a friend picked up for me on clearance at my local stuff mart, some printed letters cut to size, and some twine.
I hot glued the letters to the burlap and the burlap to the twine. It was a simple way to get a cute look added to my rustic tool box.
The whole process took a total of 10 minutes…I was thrilled!
I decided to use my old wash tub for his gifts. This is the same wash tub that I use for my Christmas tree base.
It was very practical, cute, and free!! Gotta love that!!
So, here’s just a glimpse of the party and how the card and gift “boxes” were put to use. I loved the way they looked!! They fit perfectly into the rest of the decor. I’ll show you more of the decor in the weeks ahead.
It was such a great day. It’s overwhelmingly wonderful to have so much love and support showered on our family. We are blessed.
Enjoy!
